Gel-bait dots along those paths get carried back to the harborage via colony food-sharing (trophallaxis); workers feed the colony with bait-laden regurgitate, and eggs hatch into a contaminated environment. Whole-colony elimination in 14–21 days. Spray never reaches the harborage.
IGR — the reproductive interrupt most companies skip
IGRs (methoprene, hydroprene, pyriproxyfen) mimic juvenile hormone, preventing nymphs from molting into reproductive adults. Egg cases that survive the bait don't produce a next generation.
